Make Your Life An Exciting Journey . . .

Jeb Corliss

. . . and please feel free to leave a comment to share with others, in the event your life’s journey includes experiences as exciting as this one . . .

Wow !!

As revealed in this amazing footage (below), “Grinding the Crack” is likely NOT what you thought it might be.  This wild and crazy sport is also euphemistically called “proximity jumping in a wingsuit“, or simply, “Base Jumping” and one of its pioneering stars is Jeb Corliss, whose professional vocation is that of “Wingsuit Pilot“.

Elements of self-actualization implicit or otherwise featured in this mind-blowing video are:

  • Believing In Yourself . . . because one would NEVER otherwise remotely consider attempting such a means of excursion
  • Careful Planning . . . for if Jeb only slightly miscalculated his angle of descent in his “red and blue balloon fly-by”, or otherwise failed to account for the possibility of unexpected shifting winds (a phenomena often prevalent in mountainous regions), he would have become part of the landscape in an instant
  • Employing Unconventional Means . . . without question, this is an especially creative and out-of-the-ordinary means of transport.
  • Living in the Moment . . . The brilliant multi-angled cinematography featured throughout this video makes you feel like you are right there, in the moment, experiencing it with Jeb, which is enhanced with the aptly-titled soundtrack of “Sail” by AWOL Nation

A Tribute To The Heroes of the Occupy Movement . . . Along With A Framework For Meaningful Change

The Occupy Wall Street Movement is a clarion call to awaken a vast majority who grew complacent over the years, while a rigged system increasingly stacked the deck against the unsuspecting.  This has steadily eroded the rights our forefathers died to protect, inuring to the new “corporate person” and has created a vast inequitable financial chasm between the “haves” and “have-nots”.  This has in turn resulted in an unprecedented and often inhumane level of oppression to millions, and represents the antithesis of self-actualization.

Well the time has come to take our country back and expose the full extent of corruption –and not just in banking and politics.  Our legal and judicial systems are the very mechanisms that have allowed the bankers and politicians to get away with it for so long, along with an over-the-top militarization of our police for intimidation.

We will have to expose and root out this now stifling level of avarice-driven corruption in seemingly all walks of life, demilitarize our police, and make ALL of them answerable to “we the people”.  It is only then that we can regain our inalienable, constitutional and civil rights and re-establish a society that again respects humanity and the notion of rewarding legitimate productive achievement.  By doing so, we will ALL be able to journey along our respective paths toward self-actualization and thrive once again.

The video above celebrates the heroes of the Occupy Movement to date, who had the courage to instigate what may turn out to be the most significant social movement in the history of mankind . . .  just do the math:  What’s 99% of 7 Billion?  It also introduces a framework that addresses the”what’s next?” phase, and it’s call the Thrive Movement.

Powerful Words

Four words have long produced miracles and often achieved the once-thought-impossible because they convey a sentiment embodied in three words (in English) that in turn unleash the most powerful force in the Universe . . . no matter what language they are uttered in:

So use them with those you love and watch the magic unfold.  Please enjoy the below video featuring Kylie Minogue singing I Believe In You.

[A short advertisement precedes music video.]

“Bart, having never received any words of encouragement myself, I’m not sure how they’re supposed to sound. But here goes:

‘I believe in you.’ “

Kindness Can Be Infectious

Kindness - 640 x 342
Here’s a beautifully crafted video that will no doubt raise your spirits as it illustrates the infectious impact a “random act of kindness” can have on others — for it tends to instill an inclination in the recipients of those acts to “pay it forward” and thus grow from there.  This powerful and highly infectious notion was featured in the movie Pay It Forward, starring Kevin Spacey and Haley Joe Osment, where the concept known as The Realm of Possibility was also introduced, which is addressed in a separate blog post herein.

In this video, even the most simple and pedestrian gesture of kindness can have an entirely unexpected and powerful impact because the unexpected pleasantry has a lasting memorable effect and tends to grow exponentially, and thus take on a life of its own . . . and also come full circle.

Please enjoy.

Recognizing “Crisis” For What It Is

Chinese Symbol for Crisis“When written in Chinese the word “crisis” is composed of two characters – one represents danger and the other represents opportunity.”

This observation was made in an early presidential campaign speech by then U.S. Senator John F. Kennedy, revealing how sage the Chinese were in the development of their language and character system — for it accurately dissects the primary elements of a “crisis”, no matter how large or small.

Being mindful of the inherent dangers in a crisis, while looking for its hidden opportunities will serve you well, because if you evaluate exigencies in this manner, you will remain calm enough to lucidly see the forest from the trees for sound decision-making, and avoid making make rash, emotion-laden decisions you may later regret.

President Kennedy’s crisis management skills were certainly put to the test during the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962, which is generally regarded as the closest mankind has ever come to nuclear-level conflict and faced the VERY REAL possibility of mutually assured destruction, and thus THE END OF THE WORLD.

If You’ve Never Failed . . . Then You’ve Never Lived

Failure & Living - Bordered

And if you find this notion counter-intuitive, then consider the compelling dose of historical empiricism contained in this powerful and uplifting video.  The “fear of failure” can be dangerously debilitating, and if not confronted and overcome, it becomes the silent killer of innovation, accomplishment, dreams and happiness beyond one’s wildest imagination [Psst, do you remember “The Answer” to the bold question posed by this website?]

If you give up on your aspirations, after experiencing set-backs, then you will never REALLY live . . . because your spirit will have died prematurely.  Instead, take stock of what happened, learn from the “lessons” of your failure, change your approach . . .

. . . and try, try again !!

Closer to the Edge of Glory

The Maryland Men’s Lacrosse team entered the 2011 NCAA playoffs as an unseeded team, and therefore not expected to proceed far in the tournament.  Although highly ranked through much of the season, they were accused of being inconsistent, and therefore were not seeded.

Instead of retreating into their turtle shells, they entered the tournament with a “chip on their shoulder”, manifesting resounding wins over top-ranked teams such as Duke (last year’s NCAA Champion) and UNC, and defeated the #1 ranked Syracuse Orangemen in overtime of the Quarter-Finals.

After mounting an exciting comeback to tie the game 6-6 in the fourth quarter with 11 minutes to go, they eventually succumbed 9-7 to Virginia in the Championship game. Notwithstanding, they demonstrated the importance of believing in yourself, despite what others may think, and never giving up.
